Copernica Website Tracker SDK¶
Copernica's Website Tracker SDK enables fine-grained event tracking and session personalisation on the Brekz storefront. It complements — and is being evaluated as a partial replacement for — GA4 custom dimensions and events.
Context
This page documents the outcome of a session with Rolf (Copernica) on 2026-05-05 in which we explored Copernica as a reporting tool and GA4 alternative.
Background¶
Copernica is actively moving towards a CDP (Customer Data Platform) model. As part of this direction, their Website Tracker SDK allows custom event triggering and session personalisation — capabilities that go beyond standard page-view tracking and overlap with what we currently use GA4 for.
At the same time, Brekz is running a phased rollout of Brekz Templating (A/B testing), for which richer behavioural data collection is relevant.
Current Situation¶
- Copernica tracking scripts are already loaded on the Brekz storefront.
- The tracker respects Cookie Consent legislation — just like GA4, a portion of data is lost for users who decline.
- We are not yet using the SDK's custom event or personalisation features.
- Copernica is already measuring a relatively large amount of data through the standard tracker.
Desired Situation¶
- Use Copernica more actively as a reporting tool.
- Use the SDK to enrich personal profiles with behavioural data about (potential) customers.
- For the Brekz Templating A/B testing rollout, evaluate using Copernica as the measurement layer.
Funnel analysis limitation
Copernica cannot currently be used for checkout funnel analysis, and there are no signals that this is on Copernica's roadmap. For funnel analysis, Microsoft Fabric is the only viable GA4 alternative we can build.
